Snowdrops and Spring

Lytham Hall
Snowdrops at Lytham Hall
I have escaped to a quiet corner during our family half term holiday to write a quick update on what's been going on over the past couple of weeks. We are currently enjoying some beautiful spring days near Lytham, where I grew up. It is so nice to be back by the sea and to catch up with some old friends and visit some old favourite haunts of mine.

Lytham Hall is one such favourite - a beautiful Grade 1 Listed 18th Century Manor House. The Hall is a local venue open to the public for walks and can now be hired for parties, Weddings and conferences. The Hall is run and funded by the Lytham Town Trust and has received a £2.44 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and have sought match funding from local people and organisations to help them to restore the Hall to its former glory. There is a comprehensive programme of events including Snowdrop Sunday, Mega Mini Meet and Outdoor Theatre.

A stay on the Fylde Coast would not be complete without a trip to Blackpool down the Golden Mile, on a tram past the Tower to Fleetwood!

Stopping of course, for a Fish & Chip lunch on the way....

Congratulations to everyone who got engaged on Valentine's Day. Please do take a look at our Wedding pages and contact me today if you would like to arrange a free consultation to talk about your Wedding plans. Wedding Planners are not just for the rich and famous - we can save you valuable time and money, offer lots of advice and help with ideas to make your day that little bit different.

Here is a quote from one of my brides following our first planning meeting..."Thank you so much Caroline, I can see now, how much the added support from you will help me! I'm really beginning to look forward to our day rather than feel overwhelmed by the thought of it! So thank you again, I look forward to working with you!"

**News**

We were delighted that Do Events & Weddings were the featured supplier in the fabulous Twickenham based Blink Photography's own Blog this week. I met Emma Coleman through my own Wedding at Clandon Park in May 2006 and we have kept in touch ever since. I cannot rave enough about Emma's talent as a Wedding, Portrait and Commercial photographer. Take a look at her Blog and get to know Emma and Blink a bit better here.

We have also been listed this week on the Award Winning Ariella Strings website.

The Love Handles our most popular band traveled to Nottingham and then on to Oxford for a mini tour last week, playing at two fantastic Weddings. You can now listen to some of their tracks online at SoundCloud

We wish all our fellow Wedding Suppliers and Brides to be, who are attending the forthcoming Wedding Fairs at Mentmore Golf & Country Club and the National Wedding Show, Olympia a fantastic few days of fun and all things Weddings!

We will be announcing a date shortly for our next Quiz Night at The Lensbury Club, Teddington. The event will be held in the newly refurbished Thames View Suite, so watch this space for further details.

January wrap up...

We had a super day at the Ice the Cake Wedding Fair at the Waterside Theatre, Aylesbury in January. The Fair was packed with excited brides to be and we were rushed off our feet all day!  It seems that lots of couples are now considering using a Wedding Consultant to help them in the run up to and on the Day. If you didn't read my last blog about how we can help and why you should consider using a Wedding Co-ordinator, have a look at the Wedding pages on our website for more information and some helpful tips!

We saw some super catwalk shows at the Fair, met a fabulous lady from Able Tables a company who provide 'living tables' for events! A very unique and fun idea to add something a little bit different to your Party or Wedding Reception.

The fantastic Award Winning Ariella Strings played for us and we saw some stunning dresses and makeup courtesy of Confetti Bridalwear in Tring.

The Fair was a great success and we look forward to working with a number of brides who we met at the Wedding Fair including Claire & Harry who are getting married in July in the beautiful village of  Weston Turville, plus Louise and Justin who are getting married in November at the fantastic Crazy Bear in Stadhampton.

If you do want to discuss your Wedding with us and would like to know more about the bespoke services we offer - please call Caroline Doughty Smith now on 07711 628703 or look at our  Wedding Planning and Consultancy packages on our website here

Do Events were lucky to work with Tim Syrad from The Teddington Wine Society and Tony Chuck from The Teddington Cheese on a fantastic local fundraising event for St Mary's & St Peter's School, Teddington.  The event saw 160 people, swill, slurp and swallow a number of fantastic wines; take part in Le Nez du Vin aroma challenge and taste 5 spectacular cheeses from around the world.  The event raised a fantastic £1,150 for the school and I would like to thank everyone who took part in the event and those who came along for making it such a success.

"Love is a promise, love is a souvenir, once given never forgotten, never let it disappear."
John Lennon

So as Valentine's Day fast approaches we look forward to meeting some of you who are lucky enough to get engaged on such a special day at a future Wedding Fair!

Details of future Fairs and Events will be listed online at www.do-events.co.uk
