Two Days and Counting....

The last couple of weeks have been crazy in the run up to London 2012 and now there are just over 2 days to go until the Opening Ceremony.  Do Events have been working on several local events, taking place over the first Olympic weekend.  It has been a challenging time too as we have had to postpone one event due to restricted access issues and road closures as the Men's and Women's Cycle Road Races travel through Busy Park and Teddington.  I was all geared up to transport The Love Handles' equipment across Bushy Park on the back of a tractor to the venue, but it is sadly not a challenge I have to complete!

Teddington is now ready to receive its Olympic visitors over the next few days and the Queen's Jubilee flags have now been replaced by flags representing the competing nations along the High Street. On Friday 27 July, the Olympic Torch relay will come to an end in Bushy Park and will then take its final trip to the Olympic Stadium in a cauldron aboard the Queen's Gloriana Barge along the Thames from Hampton Court. We along with thousands of other local people will make the early start to watch this fantastic spectacle. The Olympic Games really is the event to end all events and Danny Boyle's London 2012 Opening Ceremony is sure to be a fantastic spectacle.  On Friday afternoon Teddington will host a Parish Olympic Fete. Do Events have been working alongside the Parish team to create an event which includes a number of Olympic themed games and fun for all the family. The Opening Ceremony will also be screened from 7.30pm in St Mary's Parish Hall, with the bar open from 6pm.

Saturday 28th July sees the Men's Road Race pass through the town and Sunday 29th July the Women's Road Race. I am sure Bradley Wiggins recent success in the Tour de France will entice more people out onto the streets to cheer on the riders. Teddington is hosting Teddington Active from 2pm till 5pm on Sunday with 5 Zones set up across the town.

On Monday 30th July we will be watching the Cross Country at Greenwich Park, so let's hope this amazing weather holds! We hope to see you at an Olympic event in Teddington over the next few days and look forward to sharing some pictures and anecdotes from the weekend with you next week.

Do-Weddings!

So after a week away in a not so sunny Devon, I am back in the also not so sunny and rather rainy London! I can't complain as the break away was just what we all needed.

We launched our new Wedding Planning pages and packages this week on our website ready for the Autumn round of Wedding Fairs and Events for brides to be. Our Wedding Consultancy service offers packages to suit all budgets and we can offer as much or as little help as you want.  We also offer a venue and supplier finding service for Weddings and all events.

It seems that the UK is now hot on the heels of the USA with many couples including a Wedding Planner high up on their list of priorities. On average having a Wedding Planner can save couples around 10% of their Wedding costs, not to mention the amount of time saved!

I have also noticed the importance couples are placing on other elements including first dance lessons and getting in shape for their Wedding Day.  I met recently with a personal trainer who offers brides, grooms and other members of the Wedding party fitness sessions in the run up to the big day. Into That Dress specialises in this field and has seen their client base rise in recent months. BBC One Strictly Come Dancing star Izabela Hannah, who will be appearing in the 'Live & Unjudged Tour' as Brendan Cole's Ballroom dance partner, is also offering her expertise to bride and grooms in and around the London and the Surrey area.  Don't miss the Wedding First Dance Lesson Voucher on her site.

It certainly seems that a Bride's wish list for creating the perfect day is ever growing and so it is even more crucial to hire a planner to help you budget and to negotiate with suppliers. We will help you to explore our professional resources, knowledge and experience to create an amazing and unique Wedding Day.  Something to bear in mind, it can take up to 300 hours to plan a wedding!  If you are about to start planning your wedding, please give me a call, we offer all couples a free initial consultancy and quote 'Do-Weddings' to receive 10% off your total package.

Do Events - Olympics 2012

As we approach Olympics 2012, I have been busy working on a number of events with a sporty theme.  Teddington Active, taking place on Sunday 29 July 2012 between 2pm and 5pm, celebrates the Olympic Women's Cycle Road Race as it travels through the town. The Event will see a number of Zones situated in key sites throughout Teddington, where local businesses will showcase and demonstrate activities such as Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, Thai Chi and Burlesque. There will be Personal Trainers on hand to give out tips on training techniques and nutrition and if you are really brave you can try out boot camp!  Little Kickers and Playball will be running football and ball skill sessions for kids. You can now book tickets for the event through the Teddington Business Community (TBC) here.

The day will end with a Summer Party for TBC Members and guests at Teddington Cricket Club, with BBQ and Live music from The Love Handles till late.  Please contact me directly at Do Events / 07711 628703 if you would like more information or to book tickets priced at £15.

St Mary's with St Alban Church, Teddington are holding a Parish Olympic Fete on Friday 27 July 2012, from 4pm to celebrate the Opening of Olympics 2012.  This will be a fantastic event for the local community with all the fun of a traditional British Fete, again with a sporting theme and a torch relay. They will also be screening the Opening Ceremony live from 7.30pm, BBQ are bar!
